One More Tax, One More Suffering, One More Intellectual Dishonesty

Nigerians often come from poverty, struggle through the hardships of life to acquire a sound education, and then go on to gain proper job experience. Then, boom-like the sound of a pump action rifle-they become some of the most intellectually dishonest people. I have never understood this issue. Some even dig an extra twelve feet deeper to hate the very people from their own background who weren’t able to climb the ladder.

The average man here will see a leaking bucket and, instead of patching it, will say: “Hmm, I’ve got an interesting idea, why don’t we pour in more water?” What sort of thinking is this? Parochial, selfish, crab-like thinking. It’s ridiculous, completely ridiculous.

They will tell you: “Just one more… one more tax, one more suffering, one more levy, one more term, and it will be fixed.” But my father was told the very same thing.

These things boggle my mind. Aren’t you supposed to say and do things that help the people from whom you came?
